U.S. Preserved Sweet Corn Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the preserved sweet corn price per ton amounted to $1.4K (FOB, US), surging by 4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 5.5% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1.5K per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2.0K per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($1.2K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Preserved Sweet Corn Exports
In August 2022, preserved sweet corn exports from the United States dropped to 4.6K tons, waning by -13.8% against July 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 43% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8K tons. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports contracted to $6.6M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 51% against the previous month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $12M. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Preserved Sweet Corn Exports by Country
The Dominican Republic (1.2K tons), Japan (774 tons) and Mexico (607 tons) were the main destinations of preserved sweet corn exports from the United States, together comprising 55% of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Mexico (with a CAGR of +13.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($1.5M), Japan ($1.2M) and South Korea ($1.2M) appeared to be the largest markets for preserved sweet corn exported from the United States worldwide, together accounting for 58% of total exports. Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Guatemala lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
Among the main countries of destination, Mexico, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
