U.S. Refined Rapeseed Oil Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the refined rapeseed oil price per ton amounted to $2.0K (CIF, US), with a decrease of -2.6% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.9% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2.1K per ton in July 2022, and then fell modestly in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2.0K per ton), while the price for Australia amounted to $2.0K per ton.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+2.5%).
U.S. Refined Rapeseed Oil Imports
After two months of growth, supplies from abroad of refined rape, colza or mustard oil decreased by -7.8% to 124K tons in August 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when imports increased by 29% m-o-m.
In value terms, refined rapeseed oil imports shrank to $252M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 with an increase of 29% against the previous month.
U.S. Refined Rapeseed Oil Imports by Country
In August 2022, Canada (119K tons) was the main supplier of refined rapeseed oil to the United States, with a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia (1.6K tons), with a 1.3% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Canada was relatively modest.
In value terms, Canada ($243M) constituted the largest supplier of refined rapeseed oil to the United States, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($3.1M), with a 1.2% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Canada totaled +1.8%.
