U.S. Rendered Pig Fat Export Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the rendered pig fat price per ton amounted to $1.7K (FOB, US), picking up by 3.6% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to June 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1.7K per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($880.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Rendered Pig Fat Exports
In August 2022, after five months of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of lard and other pig fat (rendered), when their volume increased by 179% to 12K tons. In general, exports, however, saw a deep reduction.
In value terms, rendered pig fat exports surged to $19M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent.
U.S. Rendered Pig Fat Exports by Country
Germany (5K tons) was the main destination for rendered pig fat exports from the United States, accounting for a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, rendered pig fat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (893 tons), sixfold.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +10.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Mexico (+1.5% per month) and Canada (+25.2% per month).
In value terms, Germany ($8.5M) remains the key foreign market for rendered pig fat exports from the United States, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($1.5M), with a 15% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +12.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Mexico (+2.7% per month) and Canada (+25.2% per month).
