U.S. Paddy Rice Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the paddy rice price per ton stood at $427.9 (FOB, US), with an increase of 9.2% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($1.8K per ton), while the average price for exports to Honduras ($300.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+31.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Paddy Rice Exports
In August 2022, shipments abroad of paddy rice was finally on the rise to reach 79K tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn.
In value terms, paddy rice exports surged to $34M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable setback.
U.S. Paddy Rice Exports by Country
Panama (28K tons), Nicaragua (20K tons) and Honduras (15K tons) were the main destinations of paddy rice exports from the United States, together accounting for 79% of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Honduras (with a CAGR of +14.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for paddy rice exported from the United States were Panama ($13M), Nicaragua ($8.5M) and Honduras ($4.5M), with a combined 78% share of total exports.
Honduras, with a CAGR of +13.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
