U.S. Sauce and Seasoning Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the sauce and seasoning price per ton amounted to $2.0K (CIF, US), which is down by -5.8% against the previous month. Over the last five months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 13% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2.1K per ton in May 2022, and then contracted in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($4.6K per ton), while the price for Italy ($1.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Sauce and Seasoning Imports
In July 2022, the amount of sauces and seasonings imported into the United States fell notably to 83K tons, dropping by -17% on June 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 28% m-o-m.

U.S. Sauce and Seasoning Imports by Country
In June 2022, Italy (34K tons) constituted the largest sauce and seasoning supplier to the United States, with a 35% share of total imports. Moreover, sauce and seasoning imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (17K tons), twofold. Canada (15K tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy amounted to +1.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Mexico (+13.4% per month) and Canada (+1.2% per month).
In value terms, Canada ($48M), Mexico ($37M) and Italy ($36M) constituted the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to the United States, with a combined 61% share of total imports.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
