U.S. Sheep And Goat Meat Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the sheep and goat meat price per ton amounted to $10.8K (CIF, US), surging by 12% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to June 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 an increase of 17% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in June 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($13.7K per ton), while the price for Mexico ($8.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Sheep And Goat Meat Import Prices by Type
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplied products. In August 2022, the product with the highest price was lamb and sheep meat ($10.5K per ton), while the price for goat meat totaled $7.7K per ton.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by lamb and sheep meat (+2.3%).

In August 2022, the amount of sheep and goat meat imported into the United States reduced to 13K tons, which is down by -7.6% compared with the previous month's figure. In value terms, lamb and sheep meat ($123M) constituted the largest type of sheep and goat meat supplied to the United States, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by goat meat ($5.5M), with a 4.3% share of total imports.

In June 2022, Australia (9.4K tons) constituted the largest supplier of sheep and goat meat to the United States, with a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, sheep and goat meat imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, New Zealand (3K tons), threefold.
