U.S. Skis Import Price in July 2022
In July 2022, the average skis price amounted to $91 per pair, surging by 16% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 36% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $122.7K per thousand pairs. From March 2022 to July 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Germany ($227 per pair), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($32 per pair) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Skis Imports
For the third month in a row, the United States recorded growth in overseas purchases of skis for winter sports, which increased by 6.6% to 410K pairs in July 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 276% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in July 2022.
In value terms, skis imports soared to $37M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 272% against the previous month. Imports peaked in July 2022.
U.S. Skis Imports by Country
China (125K pairs), Austria (96K pairs) and Bulgaria (26K pairs) were the main suppliers of skis imports to the United States, with a combined 60% share of total imports. Spain, Slovenia, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in Spain (with a CAGR of +39.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($9.8M), China ($5.9M) and Spain ($3.7M) were the largest skis suppliers to the United States, together accounting for 52% of total imports. Slovenia, Germany, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Myanmar and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +48.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
