In March 2023, the average softwood veneer and plywood import price amounted to $4.3 per cubic meter, growing by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 34% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4.9 per cubic meter in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to March 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2.0 per cubic meter), while the price for New Zealand totaled $1.1 per cubic meter.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+2.4%).

The average softwood veneer and plywood export price stood at $10.2 per cubic meter in March 2023, declining by -10.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $15.3 per cubic meter in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to March 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
