U.S. Soybean Oil Export Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the soybean oil price per ton stood at $1.7K (FOB, US), declining by -6.9% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to July 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1.8K per ton in June 2022, and then declined in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was India ($3.2K per ton), while the average price for exports to Venezuela ($1.2K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Soybean Oil Export Prices by Type
Average prices varied somewhat for the major types of exported product. In July 2022, the product with the highest price was refined soybean oil and its fractions ($2.2K per ton), while the average price for exports of crude soybean oil amounted to $1.6K per ton.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: refined soybean oil (+5.5%).
U.S. Soybean Oil Exports
After three months of decline, shipments abroad of soybean oil increased by 61% to 53K tons in July 2022. Overall, exports, however, faced a drastic downturn.
In value terms, soybean oil exports skyrocketed to $90M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage.
U.S. Soybean Oil Exports by Type
Crude soybean oil (45K tons) was the largest type of soybean oil exported from the United States, accounting for a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, crude soybean oil exceeded the volume of the second product type, refined soybean oil and its fractions (8.1K tons), sixfold.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of crude soybean oil totaled -13.8%.
In value terms, crude soybean oil ($72M) remains the largest type of soybean oil exported from the United States, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by refined soybean oil and its fractions ($18M), with a 20% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of crude soybean oil stood at -11.9%.
U.S. Soybean Oil Exports by Country
Guatemala (12K tons), South Korea (12K tons) and Venezuela (11K tons) were the main destinations of soybean oil exports from the United States, with a combined 66% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Venezuela (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for soybean oil exported from the United States were South Korea ($22M), Guatemala ($20M) and Venezuela ($14M), with a combined 63% share of total exports.
Venezuela, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
