Starch Manufacture Residues Prices in the United States

U.S. Starch Manufacture Residues Export Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the starch manufacture residues price per ton stood at $541.7 (FOB, US), increasing by 39% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured expansion from January 2022 to August 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, starch manufacture residues export price decreased by -11.1% against March 2022 indices. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $609.7 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to August 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($827.0 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($215.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Starch Manufacture Residues Exports

In August 2022, the amount of residues of starch manufacture exported from the United States expanded significantly to 145K tons, increasing by 13% compared with July 2022 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a modest increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports decreased by -11.4% against June 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 39% m-o-m.

In value terms, starch manufacture residues exports skyrocketed to $78M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, total exports indicated pronounced growth from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports decreased by -14.9% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when exports increased by 58% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $92M. From July 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

U.S. Starch Manufacture Residues Exports by Country

Colombia (39K tons) was the main destination for starch manufacture residues exports from the United States, with a 27% share of total exports. Moreover, starch manufacture residues exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Egypt (19K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by New Zealand (13K tons), with a 9.1% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Colombia amounted to +38.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Egypt (+38.3% per month) and New Zealand (-2.9% per month).

In value terms, the largest markets for starch manufacture residues exported from the United States were Colombia ($23M), Egypt ($15M) and Canada ($5.5M), with a combined 55% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Ireland, Guatemala, New Zealand, Mexico, Indonesia, Morocco, Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia, the UK and Japan, which together accounted for a further 37%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Japan, with a CAGR of +77.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
