In February 2023, the average sulphur import price amounted to $216 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $502 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($445 per ton), while the price for the United States ($194 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkmenistan (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sulphur Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In February 2023, the average sulphur export price amounted to $508 per ton, declining by -34.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 49% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $943 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to February 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
