China Table Flatware Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the table flatware price amounted to $9,118 per ton (FOB, China), with an increase of 2.3% against the previous month. Over the last eight months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 5.9% m-o-m. The export price peaked in September 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($12.8 per kg), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($7,473 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Table Flatware Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets ($19.3 per kg), while the average price for exports of cutlery; other than plated with precious metal ($8,558 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), with at least one article plated with precious metal (+5.2%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Table Flatware Exports
Table flatware exports from China stood at 28K tons in September 2022, with an increase of 10% against the month before. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when exports increased by 31% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 35K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, table flatware exports rose rapidly to $257M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 30% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 264K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Cutlery; other than plated with precious metal (18K tons), cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter knives, sugar tongs and similar), not plated with precious metal (10K tons) and cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), with at least one article plated with precious metal (28 tons) were the main products of table flatware exports from China, together accounting for 100% of total exports. These products were followed by cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets, which accounted for a further 0.1%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the major product types, was attained by cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets (with a CAGR of -0.4%), while the other products experienced a decline.
In value terms, the most traded types of table flatware in China were cutlery; other than plated with precious metal ($155M), cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter knives, sugar tongs and similar), not plated with precious metal ($101M) and cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), with at least one article plated with precious metal ($384K), with a combined 100% share of total exports. These products were followed by cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets, which accounted for a further 0.1%.

China Table Flatware Exports by Country
The United States (5K tons) was the main destination for table flatware exports from China, accounting for a 18% share of total exports. Moreover, table flatware exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (1.9K tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Indonesia (1.2K tons), with a 4.3% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled -4.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+3.2% per month) and Indonesia (-2.2% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($49M) remains the key foreign market for table flatware exports from China, comprising 19% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($14M), with a 5.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5.2% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States stood at -2.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+5.3% per month) and Indonesia (+2.1% per month).
