U.S. Table Flatware Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the table flatware price per ton amounted to $427.6 (CIF, US), dropping by -1.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 14% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $542.1 per ton. From April 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($1.4K per ton), while the price for China stood at $328.0 per ton.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+8.5%).
U.S. Table Flatware Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), with at least one article plated with precious metal ($4.9K per ton), while the price for cutlery; other than plated with precious metal ($366.2 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), with at least one article plated with precious metal (+38.5%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Table Flatware Imports
In June 2022, after two months of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of table flatware, when their volume decreased by -5.3% to 110K tons. In general, imports showed a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 14% month-to-month.
In value terms, table flatware imports dropped to $47M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when imports increased by 6.7% month-to-month.
U.S. Table Flatware Imports by Type
In June 2022, cutlery; other than plated with precious metal (75K tons) constituted the largest type of table flatware supplied to the United States, with a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, cutlery; other than plated with precious metal exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter knives, sugar tongs and similar), not plated with precious metal (35K tons), twofold. Cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets (135 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 0.1% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of cutlery; other than plated with precious metal was relatively modest. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter knives, sugar tongs and similar), not plated with precious metal (-6.2% per month) and cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets (-5.0% per month).
In value terms, the most traded types of table flatware in the United States were cutlery; other than plated with precious metal ($28M), cutlery; sets of assorted articles (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter knives, sugar tongs and similar), not plated with precious metal ($19M) and cutlery; (eg spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake-servers, fish-knives, butter-knives, sugar tongs and similar), plated with precious metal, not in sets ($499K), with a combined 100% share of total imports.
U.S. Table Flatware Imports by Country
In June 2022, China (98K tons) constituted the largest supplier of table flatware to the United States, accounting for a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, table flatware imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (6.1K tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China totaled -2.5%.
In value terms, China ($32M) constituted the largest supplier of table flatware to the United States, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($8.5M), with an 18% share of total imports.
