China Technical Textiles Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the technical textiles price amounted to $7,352 per ton (FOB, China), increasing by 1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 5.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,409 per ton in March 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($15.3 per kg), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($3,577 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Technical Textiles Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was textile wicks, woven, plaited or knitted; for lamps, stoves, lighters, candles or the like; incandescent gas mantles and tubular knitted gas mantle fabric therefor, whether or not impregnated ($18.0 per kg), while the average price for exports of textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing ($3,597 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: textile wicks, woven, plaited or knitted; for lamps, stoves, lighters, candles or the like; incandescent gas mantles and tubular knitted gas mantle fabric therefor, whether or not impregnated (+3.1%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Technical Textiles Exports

In September 2022, overseas shipments of textile products and articles for technical uses decreased by -8.9% to 13K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after four months of growth. In general, exports showed a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 43% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 15K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, technical textiles exports declined to $95M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 45% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 109K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China Technical Textiles Exports by Type

Textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter (7.2K tons) was the largest type of technical textiles exported from China, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter exceeded the volume of the second product type, textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (3K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (2.7K tons), with a 21% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter amounted to -1.3%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (-3.9% per month) and textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (-2.1% per month).

In value terms, textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter ($73M) remains the largest type of technical textiles exported from China, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material ($11M), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing, with an 11% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (-1.5% per month) and textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (-4.3% per month).

China Technical Textiles Exports by Country

India (1.3K tons), the United States (1.2K tons) and Russia (914 tons) were the main destinations of technical textiles exports from China, together comprising 27% of total exports.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($9.1M), India ($7.2M) and Vietnam ($6.1M) were the largest markets for technical textiles exported from China worldwide, together comprising 24% of total exports. Russia, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Germany, Brazil, South Africa and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Russia, with a CAGR of +4.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
