China Telephone Apparatus Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the telephone apparatus price amounted to $127 per kg (FOB, China), growing by 40% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($202 per kg), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($48.9 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Telephone Apparatus Export Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was mobile phones ($211 per kg), while the average price for exports of telephone sets n.e.c. in item no. 8517.1 ($29.5 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: base station (+5.1%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Telephone Apparatus Exports
In September 2022, approximately 52K tons of telephone apparatus were exported from China; picking up by 5.8% compared with the month before. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when exports increased by 19% m-o-m. The exports peaked in September 2022.
In value terms, telephone apparatus exports soared to $6.7B (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a tangible increase from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports increased by +119.0% against February 2022 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
China Telephone Apparatus Exports by Type
Mobile phones (82K tons), telephonic or telegraphic switching apparatus (47K tons) and base stations (2.3K tons) were the main products of telephone apparatus exports from China, with a combined 98% share of total exports. Communication apparatus (excluding telephone sets or base stations); machines for the transmission or reception of voice, images or other data (including wired/wireless networks), n.e.c. in item no. 8517.6, telephone sets n.e.c. in item no. 8517.1 and line telephone sets with cordless handsets lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 2.4%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in line telephone (with a CAGR of +5.6%), while shipments for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, mobile phones ($17.3B) remains the largest type of telephone apparatus exported from China, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by telephonic or telegraphic switching apparatus ($6.3B), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by base stations, with a 0.7% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of mobile phones amounted to +3.2%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: telephonic or telegraphic switching apparatus (+3.6% per month) and base stations (-0.8% per month).
China Telephone Apparatus Exports by Country
The United States (8.9K tons) was the main destination for telephone apparatus exports from China, accounting for a 17% share of total exports. Moreover, telephone apparatus exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (4.4K tons), twofold. The Netherlands (4.3K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.2% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +3.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (-2.0% per month) and the Netherlands (+1.3% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($1.7B) remains the key foreign market for telephone apparatus exports from China, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($818M), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.2% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States stood at +7.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+0.1% per month) and the Netherlands (+4.1% per month).
