U.S. Transmission Apparatus Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the transmission apparatus price per ton stood at $91.2K (CIF, US), leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from January 2022 to June 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.6% over the last five-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2022 figures, transmission apparatus import price decreased by -24.1% against February 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 73% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $120.2K per ton. From March 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($271.4K per ton), while the price for Thailand ($3.7K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Transmission Apparatus Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was mobile phones ($319.5K per ton), while the price for transmission apparatus for radio-broadcasting and television (with reception apparatus) amounted to $90.1K per ton.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by tv with reception (+4.5%).
U.S. Transmission Apparatus Imports
In July 2022, supplies from abroad of transmission apparatus incorporating reception apparatus decreased by -13.8% to 744 tons for the first time since February 2022, thus ending a four-month rising trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 with an increase of 14% against the previous month.
In value terms, transmission apparatus imports shrank to $67M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 with an increase of 13% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $79M, and then fell in the following month.
U.S. Transmission Apparatus Imports by Type
In July 2022, mobile phones (14K tons) was the main type of transmission apparatus supplied to the United States, with a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, mobile phones exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, transmission apparatus for radio-broadcasting and television (with reception apparatus) (744 tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of mobile phones amounted to -5.0%.
In value terms, mobile phones ($4.4B) constituted the largest type of transmission apparatus supplied to the United States, comprising 98% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by transmission apparatus for radio-broadcasting and television (with reception apparatus) ($67M), with a 1.5% share of total imports.
U.S. Transmission Apparatus Imports by Country
In June 2022, China (267 tons) constituted the largest supplier of transmission apparatus to the United States, with a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, transmission apparatus imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (120 tons), twofold. Thailand (92 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Malaysia (-6.8% per month) and Thailand (-5.1% per month).
In value terms, Malaysia ($16M), Japan ($10M) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($6.8M) appeared to be the largest transmission apparatus suppliers to the United States, with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Austria and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 15%.
Among the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +30.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
