China Turkey Meat Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the turkey meat price amounted to $3,625 per ton (CIF, China), with an increase of 5.2% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,035 per ton. From May 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,518 per ton), while the price for Russia ($3,310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
China Turkey Meat Import Prices by Type
As there is only one major imported type of turkey meat, the average price level is determined by prices for frozen cuts of turkey.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for frozen turkey cut amounted to +1.5% per month.
China Turkey Meat Imports
In September 2022, approximately 1.7K tons of turkey meat were imported into China; dropping by -1.9% compared with the previous month. Overall, total imports indicated noticeable growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.8% against July 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when imports increased by 58% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 2.1K tons. From August 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, turkey meat imports expanded to $6.3M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +6.3% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports decreased by -2.5% against July 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when imports increased by 46% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $6.5M. From August 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
China Turkey Meat Imports by Type
In September 2022, frozen cuts of turkey (1.7K tons) was the main type of turkey meat supplied to China, accounting for a approximately 100% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of frozen cuts of turkey amounted to +4.7%.
In value terms, frozen cuts of turkey ($6.3M) constituted the largest type of turkey meat supplied to China.
China Turkey Meat Imports by Country
Russia (783 tons), Chile (744 tons) and the United States (211 tons) were the main suppliers of turkey meat imports to China.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +9.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Chile ($2.8M), Russia ($2.6M) and the United States ($953K) constituted the largest turkey meat suppliers to China.
