U.S. Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the vinegar-preserved vegetable price per ton stood at $1.5K (CIF, US), increasing by 4.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($2.9K per ton), while the price for Egypt ($887.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Imports
In June 2022, approximately 32K tons of vegetables in vinegar other than potatoes were imported into the United States; with a decrease of -7.3% against the previous month. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 37% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 35K tons. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vinegar-preserved vegetable imports dropped modestly to $47M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 39% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $51M. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Imports by Country
In June 2022, Mexico (14K tons) constituted the largest vinegar-preserved vegetable supplier to the United States, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, vinegar-preserved vegetable imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (4.3K tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (2.8K tons), with an 8.6% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Mexico amounted to +4.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: India (+1.9% per month) and Turkey (-8.4% per month).
In value terms, Mexico ($19M) constituted the largest supplier of vinegar-preserved vegetable to the United States, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($4.5M), with a 9.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 9.3% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Mexico totaled +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: India (+0.8% per month) and Peru (-2.2% per month).
