China Vermouth Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the vermouth price amounted to $3.7 per litre (CIF, China), stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a strong expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.6% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, vermouth import price increased by +50.4% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 an increase of 83% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4.2 per litre. From June 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($12.0 per litre), while the price for Portugal ($1.2 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Vermouth Imports
In September 2022, supplies from abroad of vermouth decreased by -33.9% to 55K litres for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a three-month rising trend. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 179% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 228K litres in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vermouth imports contracted markedly to $202K (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 135% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $546K. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
China Vermouth Imports by Country
Germany (21K litres), France (15K litres) and Portugal (13K litres) were the main suppliers of vermouth imports to China, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Portugal (with a CAGR of +140.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest vermouth suppliers to China were France ($75K), Germany ($61K) and Italy ($43K), together accounting for 89% of total imports. These countries were followed by Portugal and Spain, which together accounted for a further 11%.
Portugal, with a CAGR of +75.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
