China Wallpaper Export Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the wallpaper price stood at $3,482 per ton (FOB, China), which is down by -5.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.5% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,825 per ton. From March 2022 to August 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,389 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Wallpaper Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In August 2022, the product with the highest price was wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. ($6,698 per ton), while the average price for exports of wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics stood at $3,447 per ton.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. (+0.6%).
China Wallpaper Exports
In August 2022, wallpaper exports from China totaled 11K tons, increasing by 7.5% on July 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 47% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 15K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wallpaper exports reached $38M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 38% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 52K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
China Wallpaper Exports by Type
Wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics (11K tons) was the largest type of wallpaper exported from China, with a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. (118 tons), with a 1.1% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics totaled -4.1%.
In value terms, wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics ($37M) remains the largest type of wallpaper exported from China, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. ($792K), with a 2.1% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics totaled -4.2%.
China Wallpaper Exports by Country
Iran (1.5K tons), Uzbekistan (1.2K tons) and the United Arab Emirates (965 tons) were the main destinations of wallpaper exports from China, with a combined 34% share of total exports. India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the United States, Nigeria, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Turkmenistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in the United States (with a CAGR of +14.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($3.7M), Iran ($3.5M) and Uzbekistan ($3.3M) constituted the largest markets for wallpaper exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 28% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +13.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
