China Wheat Bran Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the wheat bran price stood at $314 per ton (CIF, China), stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 5% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $319 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($339 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($250 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Wheat Bran Imports
In September 2022, purchases abroad of wheat bran decreased by -14.2% to 60K tons for the first time since June 2022, thus ending a two-month rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a tangible increase from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.2% against August 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 98% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 88K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wheat bran imports dropped to $19M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.3% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.8% against August 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 106% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $27M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
China Wheat Bran Imports by Country
In September 2022, Indonesia (41K tons) constituted the largest supplier of wheat bran to China, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, wheat bran imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Kazakhstan (16K tons), threefold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Indonesia totaled +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+3.9% per month) and Singapore (+6.6% per month).
In value terms, Indonesia ($14M) constituted the largest supplier of wheat bran to China, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($4M), with a 21% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Indonesia amounted to +5.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+4.9% per month) and Singapore (+9.8% per month).
