U.S. Wind Powered Generator Import Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the wind powered generator price amounted to $86K per unit (CIF, US), increasing by 85% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 an increase of 4,317% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $181.0M per thousand units. From March 2022 to August 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Spain ($769K per unit), while the price for Germany ($35K per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+188.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Wind Powered Generator Imports
In August 2022, overseas purchases of wind powered generating sets were finally on the rise to reach 999 units after two months of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when imports increased by 1,446% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in August 2022.
In value terms, wind powered generator imports skyrocketed to $86M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 34,448% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $163M. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Wind Powered Generator Imports by Country
Germany (535 units), China (396 units) and India (44 units) were the main suppliers of wind powered generator imports to the United States, with a combined 98% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Germany (with a CAGR of +251.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, China ($46M) constituted the largest supplier of wind powered generator to the United States, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($19M), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 22% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China amounted to +175.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: India (-12.4% per month) and Germany (+463.5% per month).
