U.S. Yoghurt Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the yoghurt price amounted to $2,894 per ton (CIF, US), which is down by -4.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 an increase of 4.5% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,115 per ton. From July 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($3,328 per ton), while the price for France ($2,637 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
U.S. Yoghurt Imports
In December 2021, the amount of yoghurt imported into the United States reduced to 1.8K tons, which is down by -2.4% against the previous month. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2021 with an increase of 56% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 2.1K tons in May 2021; however, from June 2021 to December 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, yoghurt imports fell to $5.2M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2021 with an increase of 54% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6.2M. From April 2021 to December 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Yoghurt Imports by Country
France (888 tons), Canada (801 tons) and Chile (84 tons) were the main suppliers of yoghurt imports to the United States, together comprising 98% of total imports.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the biggest increases were in Chile (with a CAGR of +6.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest yoghurt suppliers to the United States were Canada ($2.5M), France ($2.3M) and Chile ($279K), together comprising 98% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Chile, with a CAGR of +6.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
