As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, bridge exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 271% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

The UK (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of bridge exports from the Netherlands, together accounting for 89% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +38.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2021, supplies from abroad of bridges, bridge sections, towers and lattice masts (of iron or steel) decreased by -34.7% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 138% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, bridge imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of bridge imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 52% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Portugal, Vietnam, Spain, Denmark, Belgium and Poland, which together accounted for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +530.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest bridge suppliers to the Netherlands were Denmark ($X), Belgium ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports. Turkey, Germany, Vietnam, Portugal, Spain and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +329.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average bridge import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+22.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
