The UK, with a CAGR of +35.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of gravel and crushed stone decreased by -4.7% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, gravel and crushed stone imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Norway (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of gravel and crushed stone imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 83% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium and France, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
