For the third year in a row, the Netherlands recorded growth in supplies from abroad of sausages and similar products of meat, which increased by 3.7% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, sausage imports reached $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 23%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sausage to the Netherlands, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, sausage imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.8% share.
