Germany (X pairs) was the main destination for women hosiery exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 34% share of total exports. Moreover, women hosiery exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X pairs), twofold. Belgium (X pairs) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled +12.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+14.2% per year) and Belgium (+5.4% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the largest markets for women hosiery exported from the Netherlands worldwide, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, the UK, Sweden and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per pair), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per pair) was amongst the lowest.

Women hosiery imports into the Netherlands stood at X pairs in 2022, with an increase of 4.8% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.2% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, women hosiery imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.8% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 25%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2022, China (X pairs) constituted the largest supplier of women hosiery to the Netherlands, accounting for a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, women hosiery imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X pairs), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Pakistan (X pairs), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +10.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+11.8% per year) and Pakistan (+5.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of socks, stockings and other women's hosiery to the Netherlands, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +9.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+9.3% per year) and Germany (+7.2% per year).

In 2022, the average women hosiery import price amounted to $X per pair, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 9.8%. The import price peaked at $X per pair in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per pair), while the price for Poland ($X per pair) was amongst the lowest.
