Truck Market Size in the Netherlands
The Dutch truck market dropped remarkably to $X in 2022, reducing by -19.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. Overall, total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -15.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X units), Belgium (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of truck exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 30% share of total exports. Poland, the UK, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Romania, Nigeria, Serbia and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sweden (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for truck exported from the Netherlands were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 34% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Romania, Ukraine, Portugal, Serbia and Nigeria, which together accounted for a further 28%.
Among the main countries of destination, Serbia, with a CAGR of +15.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average truck export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 5.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 59%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2022, overseas purchases of trucks decreased by -34.3% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, truck imports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Germany (X units), Belgium (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of truck imports to the Netherlands, together comprising 62% of total imports. Poland, the UK, Turkey, Spain, the United States, Portugal, Italy, South Africa and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +108.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest truck suppliers to the Netherlands were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and the UK ($X), together accounting for 62% of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, France, Spain, Italy, the United States, Turkey, Portugal, South Africa and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Among the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +82.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average truck import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 16%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
