Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of coffee extract exports from the UK, together comprising 38% of total exports. These countries were followed by Ireland, the Netherlands, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Greece, Spain, Italy, Ukraine and Australia, which together accounted for a further 37%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of +17.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average coffee extract export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of coffee extracts, essences and concentrates decreased by -31.9% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coffee extract imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 8.8%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of coffee extract imports to the UK, together accounting for 52% of total imports. Hungary, France, Brazil, Ukraine, Thailand, Italy, Ireland, Russia, Belgium and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +162.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 6.8%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
