The Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of cold-rolled steel products exports from the UK, with a combined 53% share of total exports. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cold-rolled steel products imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
