In value terms, jam, jelly, puree and paste exports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Ireland (X tons) was the main destination for jam, jelly, puree and paste exports from the UK, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, jam, jelly, puree and paste exports to Ireland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United States (X tons), with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ireland stood at -9.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+1.7% per year) and the United States (-1.3% per year).
In value terms, Ireland ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) were the largest markets for jam, jelly, puree and paste exported from the UK worldwide, with a combined 43% share of total exports. France, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, Belgium and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, South Korea, with a CAGR of +21.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for jams, jellies, puree and pastes stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 13%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK
Jam, jelly, puree and paste imports into the UK declined markedly to X tons in 2021, dropping by -18.1% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, jam, jelly, puree and paste imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of jam, jelly, puree and paste imports to the UK, with a combined 62% share of total imports. Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Turkey, India and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +108.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the largest jam, jelly, puree and paste suppliers to the UK, together comprising 70% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Spain, Poland, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, India, Turkey and Greece, which together accounted for a further 22%.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +92.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for jams, jellies, puree and pastes amounted to $X per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
