The average ketone and quinone export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 31% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, ketone and quinone export price increased by +64.4% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of ketones and quinones increased by 14% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 207%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ketone and quinone imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of ketone and quinone imports to the UK, together accounting for 76% of total imports. Germany, Italy, Finland, the United States and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +147.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
