The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lubricating oil additive exports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Mozambique ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lubricating oil additive imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a slight decrease. In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
