In value terms, non-electric air heater exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 183%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
South Africa represented the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 68% of total exports. Togo (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Morocco (X units). All these countries together took near 22% share of total exports. The following exporters - Mozambique (X units) and Tunisia (X units) - together made up 4.5% of total exports.
Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -14.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Togo (+53.6%) and Morocco (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +53.6% from 2012-2022. Mozambique experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tunisia (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Togo, Morocco and Mozambique increased by +17, +4.9 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest non-electric air heater supplier in Africa, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 5.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 4.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa totaled -12.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Morocco (+5.8% per year) and Tunisia (-8.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -10% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 52%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 96% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-electric air heater imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Algeria prevails in imports structure, recording X units, which was near 60% of total imports in 2022. Tunisia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by South Africa (X units), Egypt (X units) and Mozambique (X units). All these countries together held near 23% share of total imports. The following importers - Nigeria (X units) and Libya (X units) - together made up 4.8% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric air heater imports into Algeria stood at +7.9%. At the same time, Mozambique (+46.1%) and Nigeria (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +46.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Africa (-5.8%), Egypt (-9.3%), Tunisia (-11.3%) and Libya (-11.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Algeria and Mozambique increased by +36 and +4.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Algeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electric air heaters or hot air distributors in Africa, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($X), with a 9.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 7.5% share.
In Algeria, non-electric air heater imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Egypt (-7.7% per year) and Tunisia (-12.8% per year).
