Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Egypt amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Africa
Stamp and photo collection album imports shrank notably to X tons in 2022, waning by -47.9% on 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 40%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, stamp and photo collection album imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Nigeria represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which reached 49% of total imports. Senegal (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Rwanda (6.5%) and Ethiopia (6%). South Africa (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Benin (X tons) and Djibouti (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs. At the same time, Rwanda (+12.2%), Djibouti (+12.2%) and Senegal (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +12.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Benin (-3.9%), Cote d'Ivoire (-4.3%), Ethiopia (-4.9%), Morocco (-6.7%), South Africa (-18.1%) and Tunisia (-28.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Nigeria (+30 p.p.), Senegal (+8.6 p.p.), Rwanda (+5.7 p.p.), Ethiopia (+2.1 p.p.) and Djibouti (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Africa and Tunisia saw its share reduced by -6.6% and -28.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Senegal ($X), Nigeria ($X) and South Africa ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 42% of total imports. Ethiopia, Morocco, Tunisia, Djibouti, Rwanda, Cote d'Ivoire and Benin lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Djibouti, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
