The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Egypt (X tons), distantly followed by South Africa (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Kenya (X tons) represented the main importers of acrylic polymers, in primary forms (excluding polymethyl methacrylate), together creating 72% of total imports. Ghana (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Zambia (X tons), Angola (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

These countries were followed by Morocco, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Tunisia, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Angola and Cote d'Ivoire, which together accounted for a further 39%.
Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a CAGR of +22.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton), while Algeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
