As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

South Africa represented the major importer of aluminium alloy tubes and pipes in Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 32% of total imports in 2022. Morocco (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Niger (7.1%), Ghana (5.5%), Tunisia (4.8%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (4.7%). At the same time, Niger (+63.2%), Cote d'Ivoire (+37.8%), Guinea (+16.0%), Morocco (+15.5%), Libya (+14.3%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+10.2%), Ghana (+5.4%), Tunisia (+5.3%), Senegal (+4.5%) and Ethiopia (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Niger emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +63.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Nigeria (-1.4%) and Algeria (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Morocco, Niger, Cote d'Ivoire and Democratic Republic of the Congo increased by +9.1, +7, +3.3 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium alloy tubes and pipes in Africa, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Tunisia, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa stood at +1.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Morocco (+12.9% per year) and Tunisia (+8.9% per year).
