At the same time, Burundi (+39.2%), Swaziland (+36.6%), Congo (+24.1%), Morocco (+18.7%), Namibia (+15.9%) and Benin (+13.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burundi emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +39.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Africa (-26.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kenya (+35 p.p.), Swaziland (+11 p.p.), Morocco (+5.5 p.p.), Namibia (+4.1 p.p.), Congo (+3.8 p.p.), Benin (+3.4 p.p.) and Burundi (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of South Africa (-60.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest reservoirs, tanks, vats and similar containers, of aluminium, capacity exceeding 300l, without mechanical or thermal equipment supplying countries in Africa were Morocco ($X), Kenya ($X) and Swaziland ($X), together comprising 67% of total exports. South Africa, Namibia, Benin, Burundi and Congo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Burundi, with a CAGR of +41.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 14%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Cameroon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
