Amplifier Market Size in Africa

The African amplifier market stood at $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a resilient increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, amplifier production declined modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 54%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of amplifiers increased by 23% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +39.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 101%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, amplifier exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. Botswana (X units) and Rwanda (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to amplifier exports from South Africa stood at +3.7%. At the same time, Rwanda (+55.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +55.6% from 2012-2022. Botswana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. South Africa (+14 p.p.) and Rwanda (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Rwanda ($X) and Botswana ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 86% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Rwanda, with a CAGR of +83.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per unit), while Botswana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Rwanda (+18.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

In 2022, approx. X units of amplifiers were imported in Africa; picking up by 27% against the year before. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +21.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, amplifier imports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Egypt (X units) and Ghana (X units) were the main importers of amplifiers in Africa, together mixing up 37% of total imports. Kenya (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Angola (X units), South Africa (X units) and Algeria (X units). All these countries together took approx. 27% share of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Cameroon (X units), Togo (X units), Nigeria (X units), Morocco (X units), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) and Libya (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cameroon (with a CAGR of +50.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Ghana ($X) and Angola ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 40% of total imports. Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Algeria, Egypt, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Cameroon and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +16.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 26%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
