In 2021, Nigeria (X tons) represented the largest exporter of aramids staple in Africa, making up 99% of total export.

Imports in Africa
In 2021, aramids staple imports in Africa stood at X tons, with an increase of 10% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 420% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aramids staple imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 438%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Morocco (X tons) represented the largest importer of aramids staple, constituting 80% of total imports. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X tons), committing a 15% share of total imports. Egypt (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
Morocco was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aramids staple imports, with a CAGR of +19.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Africa (+7.0%) and Egypt (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Morocco and South Africa increased by +65 and +7 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Morocco ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aramids staple in Africa, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Africa ($X), with a 14% share of total imports.
In Morocco, aramids staple imports increased at an average annual rate of +21.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Africa (+2.3% per year) and Egypt (-1.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -11.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 71%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
