Production By Country in Africa

The countries with the highest volumes of silversmiths ware production in 2021 were Ethiopia (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons), with a combined X% share of total production. South Africa, Uganda, Algeria, Mozambique, Madagascar, Niger, Tunisia, Libya, Cameroon and Zimbabwe lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Niger (+X%), while silversmiths ware production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, silversmiths ware exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced descent. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, South Africa (X tons) represented the largest exporter of articles of goldsmiths’ or silversmiths’ wares of silver, creating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Zimbabwe (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports. Ethiopia (X kg) and Niger (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to silversmiths ware exports from South Africa stood at -X%. At the same time, Ethiopia (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
