In 2022, purchases abroad of bed linen of cotton increased by 10% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bed linen of cotton imports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 20%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The purchases of the three major importers of bed linen of cotton, namely Senegal, South Africa and Angola, represented more than third of total import. It was distantly followed by Morocco (X tons) and Libya (X tons), together generating an 11% share of total imports. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
