As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2009 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2020, Cabo Verde (X tons), distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Mauritius (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) were the main exporters of bigeye tuna, together generating X% of total exports. Namibia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Cabo Verde, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest bigeye tuna supplying countries in Africa were Tanzania ($X), Cabo Verde ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports decreased by -X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Mauritius represented the largest importer of bigeye tuna in Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2020. Seychelles (X tons) occupied a X% share (based on tons) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Cabo Verde (X%), Morocco (X%), Madagascar (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%) and Ghana (X%).
Imports into Mauritius increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Cabo Verde (+X%), Morocco (+X%), Cote d'Ivoire (+X%) and Madagascar (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cabo Verde emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, Ghana (-X%) and Seychelles (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Cabo Verde (+X p.p.), Mauritius (+X p.p.) and Morocco (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ghana and Seychelles saw its share reduced by -X% and -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
