In value terms, black printing ink imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
South Africa (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) represented the largest importers of black printing ink in 2022, resulting at near 26% and 17% of total imports, respectively. Morocco (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.6% share, followed by Egypt (6.8%), Nigeria (6.3%) and Angola (4.7%). Tunisia (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons), Kenya (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Angola (with a CAGR of +25.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported black printing ink in Africa, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 7.8% share.
