After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced increased by 31% to X square meters in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at X square meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest board, sheet, panel, tile and similar article of plaster not faced importing markets in Africa were Nigeria ($X), Morocco ($X) and South Africa ($X), with a combined 29% share of total imports. Tanzania, Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Libya, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cabo Verde and Somalia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
Among the main importing countries, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a CAGR of +24.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per square meter in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per square meter), while South Africa ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
