It was distantly followed by Tanzania (X units), mixing up a 6.1% share of total exports. Kenya (X units), Swaziland (X units), Morocco (X units) and Tunisia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Tanzania (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, South Africa ($X), Egypt ($X) and Swaziland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 84% share of total exports. Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia and Tanzania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.
Among the main exporting countries, Tanzania, with a CAGR of +7.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 10% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Swaziland ($X per unit), while Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
