The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 63% of total exports. Morocco (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 18% share, followed by Tunisia (8.7%) and Algeria (5%). Nigeria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to brakes and servo-brakes exports from South Africa stood at +2.1%. At the same time, Algeria (+36.3%), Morocco (+19.9%), Tunisia (+19.6%) and Nigeria (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +36.3% from 2012-2022. In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest brakes and servo-brakes supplier in Africa, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with an 8.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 7.5% share.
In South Africa, brakes and servo-brakes exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Morocco (+9.0% per year) and Tunisia (+18.4% per year).

The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -1.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, brakes and servo-brakes export price increased by +59.5% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 72% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +25.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

Among the main importing countries, Morocco, with a CAGR of +21.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -6.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
