As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports declined markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +94.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, South Africa (-5.9%) and Angola (-26.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Ghana (+47 p.p.), Cameroon (+13 p.p.), Senegal (+4.2 p.p.), Equatorial Guinea (+3.9 p.p.), Nigeria (+2.8 p.p.) and Sudan (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Africa and Angola saw its share reduced by -2% and -54.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Cameroon ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides in Africa, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with an 11% share.
