The following exporters - Senegal (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Congo (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) - together made up 15% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden joinery and carpentry exports from South Africa stood at +2.1%. At the same time, Congo (+63.8%), Morocco (+34.7%) and Senegal (+16.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Congo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +63.8% from 2012-2021. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Egypt (-2.0%) and Cote d'Ivoire (-9.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Morocco (+8.7 p.p.), Congo (+3.6 p.p.) and Senegal (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Egypt (-1.6 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (-3.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest wooden joinery and carpentry supplier in Africa, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 5.4% share.
In South Africa, wooden joinery and carpentry exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Morocco (+31.4% per year) and Egypt (+2.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa
In 2021, purchases abroad of builders' joinery and carpentry of wood was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Morocco (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Libya (X tons) was the main importer of builders' joinery and carpentry of wood in Africa, generating 42% of total import. Libya, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while Lesotho ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
