The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Overall, imports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dicalcium phosphate imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The purchases of the four major importers of calcium hydrogenorthophosphate (dicalcium phosphate), namely Nigeria, Kenya, Algeria and Egypt, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
